Wiley CPAexcel is the course I would use if I had to retake the CPA exam, their program allows you to constantly rotate from watching lectures to reading the text to answering questions.
They also stand behind their product and give you lifetime access until you pass.
I found their analytics to be some of the best in the business in helping you identify WHERE to spend your time studying. This is crucial because you don’t have time to study concepts you already understand.

They do offer video lectures and they are high quality and breakdown the content well, but lack some functionality such as digital notes, bookmarking, side by side video and textbook and the ability to speed up or slow down the video
If video lectures aren’t a focal point to how you learn, then this won’t be an issue, but just to be safe…

Some CPA candidates need a live classroom setting in order to stay focused and motivated to study and pass the CPA exam.
Thankfully such a service does exist, but it does not come without downsides.
When deciding whether to self-study for the CPA exam or attend a live classroom CPA review course you need to consider the time it takes to commute to the classroom and back.
You also need to consider the quality of the instructor and if you will really have that many questions to make attending a live class worth while.
In my opinion, if you lose flexibility to study at the pace that works best for your busy schedule it can hurt you in the long run.
Having a rigid class schedule can create unnecessary stress if you fall behind or if a life disrupting event occurs.
Below you will find the two different options available for you to choose if you must attend a live CPA review course.
Becker CPA Review
Becker CPA Review is one of the only CPA review courses to offer live CPA review classes for CPA candidates.
They have a network of live classes across the United States where a live instructor will proctor the Becker CPA Review video lectures and be available to answer your questions.
- Live instructor who is available to answer your questions
- Structure for you to follow if you have trouble with staying on track
- Need to consider commute time going back and forth between your class. Would it be better to spend that time studying?
- You will lose flexibility as you have to adhere to their class schedule. Consider what would happen if you fail or have a life disrupting even that sets you behind.
Wiley CPAexcel
Wiley CPAexcel doesn’t offer in-person live classes, but offer what are called digital mentoring classes. They are live webinars that you can attend.
You also get access to ask a limited number of questions directly to the instructor per week as well.
- Gives you structure to follow and a sense of a classroom setting.
- No commute, all sessions are recorded and you can still go at your own pace if you do have something come up in your life.
- Not in person
- You can't ask the instructor unlimited questions, but it's understandable why that is.
Best CPA Review Course Test Bank
Sometimes you just need more CPA exam questions.
It’s understandable, especially if you have failed the CPA exam and have started seeing the same CPA exam questions over and over.
This is dangerous because when you memorize answers it can give you a false sense of understanding.
What’s the solution?
Invest in a standalone test bank.
Now understand that all CPA review courses are built on the same exam questions that are released by the AICPA so there will be overlap or some similarities.
However the explanations will be different and the wording will likely be different from your primary CPA review course.
I would not be a CPA today if I didn’t invest in a test bank so I’m personal proof that they work.
